Children were sitting on the floor playing games people lounging around in chairs, and admiring photos on each other‘s phones at the tables scattered around the Caffé dArté in Kingsrow mall, at Dimond and King Street. It was like being at home on holiday. Everybody hanging around, smiling and laughing. It’s First Friday and all are here to enjoy the art and the company. This month’s local artists are Karen Chase – born in Alaska and an artist for 14 years; and, Jamie Janko – born in Anchorage and passionate for art. Karen’s work showcases the beautiful Alaska landscapes, while Jamie embellishes her art with a unique neon style. Look at it in normal light looks one way, aim a flashlight at it, and you get a different picture. Both artists are very thankful to local establishments like Caffe D’arte to open their doors to show off their art and meet new people.
